The Beginning of 614 Barbell

March 25, 2019

Owning a gym was always something that has been on the back of my mind when I began Personal Training in 2011. Throughout the years, I witnessed how multiple gyms have been run, and I started to develop in my mind what would be the ideal gym for everyone, something that was not like every other gym.

That knowledge and understanding of how the gym industry worked help me make my decision in June of 2018 that this dream could become a real possibility. With the gym I had been training clients at closing, I was faced with the decision of going back to UPS to work as a part time supervisor again. That being something I didn’t want to do again, I decided to take another leap of faith and chase this dream I have had for the last 7 years. I already had a plan in mind on how I wanted to separate 614 Barbell from any other gym in the Columbus area, it was now time to put it in place.

I officially began work on the gym June 9th, 2018 with lots of work ahead of me and very little time to do it so I would have a space for other trainers and myself to continue training clients. Work continued for the next month with a lot of help from friends and family members to get the gym up and running, it was amazing to see it all come together piece by piece. By the beginning of July, we were ready to start moving gym equipment in and I could see the gym slowly coming together. After a few open gyms, the gym officially opened for memberships on August 8th, 2018.

This gym has grown into something I had always dreamed of and it would not be what it is without all the hard work and help I received from people. I will always strive to have my gym (future gyms) be something that anyone of any skill level can come into and feel that they are more than just another person walking into another gym. 614 Barbell always will be a family of supportive people helping and pushing each other to become the best version of themselves whether it is physical or mentally. One day this will be the best gym to train at in central Ohio, and I won’t stop chasing that dream until it is reality.

I just want to thank every single person from the bottom of my heart for making this place what it is today. My promise is to always try and provide the best training environment in Ohio, because without all of you this wouldn’t be possible!

Thank you all again,

Eric Miller
